About Us: Facilities

The CADRC is located behind Heron and Chase Halls, near the California Blvd. entrance to the Cal Poly campus. It is a modular building specifically designed for the unique 'open-lab' requirements of a research development environment. This is the CADRC's third home, having started with seven employees in a small storage space in the Engineering West building in 1986.

The 4,300 sq. ft. building is equipped with 42 workstations and has one of the highest levels of connectivity on the campus, including internal and external fiber optic networks.

The building was paid for entirely by indirect contract income from CADRC research contracts over five years. The building was built under the auspices of the Cal Poly Corporation at a cost of approximately $350,000 including utilities and communications services. More than $30,000 for internal furnishing were provided jointly by the CADRC, the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, the Office of Research and Graduate Programs, and from donations from external organizations.
